BETA PRIVACY NOTICE • VERSION RIGWAVE-PRIVATE-BETA-PRIVACY-V1-2026-10-01
Private Beta Privacy Notice
This notice applies specifically to invited beta access, download acceptance and structured beta feedback.
Controller and contact
The controller is Gary Woodward, sole trader, trading as RigWave Streaming Systems, 6 Adlington Drive, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 8BP, United Kingdom. Privacy and data-rights enquiries: info@rigwavesystems.co.uk.
What beta data is processed
RigWave may process your tester identifier and invitation status; candidate/build identity; the versions and time of your Terms/EULA, NDA and privacy acknowledgement; optional name/nickname and contact email; Windows machine and kit details you enter; F01–F60 test outcomes; defect, reproduction and compatibility notes; ordinary browser/user-agent and service security metadata; support correspondence; and data-rights requests.
Do not submit passwords, stream keys, licence keys, access tokens, payment-card data, private chats, special-category data, criminal-offence data or another person’s personal data unless RigWave has specifically asked for it and a lawful basis has been confirmed.
Purposes and lawful bases
Beta access and licence administration: necessary to take steps at your request and administer the private-beta agreement.
Defect investigation, compatibility analysis, service security and preventing misuse: RigWave’s legitimate interests in developing, securing and validating its software, balanced against tester privacy. RigWave minimises the data requested and keeps access restricted.
Legal/compliance records and legal claims: legal obligation where applicable and legitimate interests in establishing, exercising or defending legal rights.
Acceptance of the Terms/EULA or NDA is contractual acceptance, not data-protection consent. RigWave does not use the beta acceptance checkboxes as consent for marketing. Any future optional marketing or unrelated data use requiring consent must use a separate opt-in.
Recipients and processors
Beta feedback and acceptance records are stored in RigWave’s isolated Supabase beta backend. Website/email hosting providers may process ordinary connection or correspondence data. Access is limited to people and processors who need it for the beta, support, security or legal compliance. RigWave does not sell tester personal data.
International transfers
The beta database is configured in an EU region. Supabase may use subprocessors or make onward transfers. RigWave relies on the applicable contractual safeguards in its processor arrangements, including the UK transfer addendum where required. Provider and subprocessor arrangements must remain under review.
Retention
Structured identifiable beta feedback is kept for up to 24 months after submission, then deleted or anonymised unless it is still reasonably needed for an unresolved defect, security incident, complaint or legal claim. Tester invitation/status records are normally deleted or anonymised within 12 months after the private-beta programme ends. Records proving acceptance of the beta contract/NDA may be retained for up to six years after participation ends where reasonably needed to establish or defend contractual/legal claims. Security, complaint or legal-hold material may be kept longer where necessary and lawful.
Your right to object to legitimate-interest processing
Where RigWave relies on legitimate interests for beta defect investigation, compatibility analysis, service security or preventing misuse, you have the right to object to that processing. Email info@rigwavesystems.co.uk and explain your objection. RigWave will stop the relevant processing unless it can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Objecting does not opt you into or out of marketing because beta acceptance is not marketing consent.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. You can contact info@rigwavesystems.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK data-protection regulator. Withdrawal of any optional consent does not affect processing based on another lawful basis.
Automated decisions and marketing
The beta programme does not use tester feedback for solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. Beta acceptance does not opt you into marketing.
Data minimisation and security
Tester codes are stored as hashes rather than plaintext in the beta database. The download is candidate-gated. Feedback access is separated from production commerce/licensing data. Keep your tester code private and use the security-reporting route for suspected vulnerabilities.
Processor and transfer review
RigWave uses Supabase for the isolated beta backend. Supabase publishes a data processing addendum and subprocessor information. The beta project's primary database region is configured in the EU, but this does not mean every processor operation or subprocessor is necessarily confined to that region. RigWave reviews applicable processor terms, subprocessors and transfer safeguards and will update this notice where a material change affects beta processing.
If there is a personal data incident
RigWave maintains an incident process to contain and assess personal data breaches, keep the required internal record and notify the regulator and affected people where the applicable legal thresholds require it.
